These new works come together in a show titled, The Gestalt Effect.

Robb describes the exhibition, "The Gestalt effect is the form-generating capability of our senses, particularly with respect to the visual recognition of figures and whole forms instead of just a collection of simple lines and curves. This body of work started with an idea about the lines we make as artists and how they define us," continues the artist. "It soon became a study of process and multiples, which evolved into an exploration of repetition and ritual."

"A group of rural women farmers from six different countries in West Africa (issued) a declaration about wanting to own land," she said. "The land is only able to be held by men."

Ekundayo also curated "Yansan: 100 Years of Womyn's Struggle, Ceremony and Sword," an exhibition by women of color to celebrate the 100th anniversary of International Women's Day. The exhibit will hang through March 29 at the Sellars Project Space in Denver's Berkeley Highland neighborhood.

The Sellars Project Space has built a reputation for featuring some of Denver’s most interesting artists, and Brian Comber: New Works continues that tradition. Comber, who has exhibited in town since the 1980s, is known as both a painter and a printmaker. For this show, he’s created a body of vaguely surrealistic portraits that, to some extent, look like a cross between Grant Wood’s work and that of kitsch queen Margaret “Big Eyes” Keene. Read full article here

SfA Client Sharon Bond Brown's Paintings on Billboard

The Faces of Colorado Art Billboard in Downtown Denver's Theater District.

The festival is not only celebrating its fourth year providing incredible international films to the public but it recent approval as a non-profit organization.

The Festivus Film Festival was recently named by MovieMaker Magazine as, “one of the 25 Coolest Film Festivals in the Nation,” we have become Denver’s largest indie film fest in only three years of operation. In the past the festival has received press coverage from Fox 31 News, 9 News, Channel 2 News, the Denver Post, Westword, The Onion AV Club, 303 Magazine, 5280 Magazine, Denver Daily News and more.

The 2011 season of the festival runs January 13-16, and promises to be the best yet. According to Festival Director Tim DeMasters, “we have a diverse selection of cutting edge films you won’t see anywhere else.

Our audience grows every year because people love the films we select.”Hosting filmmakers from as far away as Turkey, Festivus Film Festival is now an important part of the Denver social, art and cultural scene.

For further information or press inquiries please contact Johnathan McFarlane at johnathan@festivusfilmfestival.com or visit the Festivus Film Festival website at http://www.festivusfilmfestival.com/
